I love Halloween, it's just fun and the kids have a great time. Some years we do more than others, but it's always fun to make a connection back to my childhood, and the magic of turning into someone else for a short period of time.
This year we celebrated by making fresh pumpkin pies, going to the pumpkin farm, carving jack-o-lanterns. The kids had parties at school and religious education classes. We also went to the local Halloween Happenings at the park district.
I have to love how my husband is fearless and lets me paint his face with no qualms. He'll then go about his errands for the day in ghoulish delight. Here I was practicing a new cat face design before I tried it out on my neighbor. My daughter is always a willing model and gets into the fun.
Happy Halloween, everyone! Make it safe and fun!

What Does October Mean to You?
October is a wonderful month for many happy reasons. It's the month of my wedding anniversary, and the beginning of Autumn, and the month for good natured Halloween fun. On the more serious side, it's also the month to support Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence prevention.
The wonderful artisans of the ArtFire Jewelry Design Jewelry Supply Shops Guild have come together this month to support these two worthy causes by donating a portion of their sales to the respective charities. The awareness colors for these two causes are pink and purple, so if you are a fan of these colors, take a look at the ArtFire collection below, where I have taken a sampling of the beautiful items these artisans are offering for this event.

Collections at ArtFire
This was a collection I made when ArtFire first released the capability to make collections. I never liked the fact that with the Etsy Treasuries you had to apply for an opportunity to make a Treasury. It seemed so restricted. I was thrilled when ArtFire came out with this feature. I wish I had the time to indulge more in making them, but I was rather proud of this, being one of my first attempts.
Halloween Colors
My latest piece using gunmetal chain. The muted color of the chain makes for a nice contrast to the Fall colors of the lampwork beads. I've been waiting on using the chain until I had matching findings. I did a similar piece for a pirate themed bracelet, but the headpins were silver. It didn't look bad, but I much prefer the seamless look you get when all the metal matches. This piece looks particularly striking for the use of the fire opal crystal accents.
